Key Takeaways

  • A new CPAP or APAP costs about USD 250 to 1,400 in Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Argentina (October 2026).
  • BiPAP starts around USD 1,000 and travel CPAPs run USD 890 to 1,890.
  • With 2 masks and spare parts a year, five years of supplies cost 2 to 3 times the machine.
  • IMSS, ISSSTE, EPS, Fonasa and PAMI require a sleep study diagnosis; device coverage varies.
  • Before buying used, check sanitary registration, recalls and warranty.

A new CPAP or auto CPAP (APAP) machine costs roughly USD 250 to 1,400 in Latin America in 2026, based on online retail listings in Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Argentina; the price depends on machine type, brand and included accessories. BiPAP machines start around USD 1,000 and travel CPAPs run about USD 890 to 1,890. The machine is only part of the bill: over five years, masks, filters, tubing and water chambers can cost 2 to 3 times the device itself. For reference, US Google Shopping listings for popular auto CPAP machines from major global brands ranged from about USD 534 to 1,004 on the same day.

We collected prices on October 2, 2026 from Google Shopping and from product pages at specialist sleep therapy stores, pharmacies, department stores and national marketplaces in each country. They are public retail prices for new devices, including taxes where the store shows them, and exclude rentals, used units and overseas sellers. USD conversions use that day's exchange rates. SysMed USA does not sell to patients or publish prices.

In Mexico, the stores we checked list few fixed CPAPs and several budget-brand APAPs, so the cheapest APAP costs less than the cheapest fixed CPAP. BiPAPs with adaptive servo ventilation (ASV) reach about MXN 69,800. In Argentina we found only one BiPAP with a published price. Ranges include kits with a mask or heated tubing when stores sell them that way. If you are new to the device, start with what a CPAP machine is and how it works or our CPAP, APAP and BiPAP machine comparison.

What drives CPAP machine cost

  • Therapy type: fixed CPAP is the most affordable, APAP costs more, and BiPAP with ST or ASV modes is the most expensive.
  • Brand and generation: in Chile, a budget-brand APAP with mask and tubing lists at CLP 469,900, while a latest-generation model from a global brand with a mask reaches CLP 999,900.
  • Bundled accessories: in Chile, the same APAP goes from CLP 799,900 with standard tubing and a nasal mask to CLP 949,900 with heated tubing and a full face mask, about 19 % more.
  • Connectivity: WiFi or cellular modules and cloud platform access raise the price.
  • Import and channel: exchange rates, duties, sanitary registration, local warranty and service, taxes and installment plans.

Supplies: what masks, filters and tubing cost

CPAP therapy uses parts that wear out. As a reference, US Medicare covers up to one mask every 3 months, replacement cushions every month, tubing every 3 months, two disposable filters a month and a water chamber every 6 months. The actual schedule comes from the manufacturer's manual and the care team.

Five-year cost of owning a CPAP machine

Medicare treats five years as the reasonable useful lifetime of a PAP device. To estimate total cost, we used an annual assumption more conservative than Medicare's maximum: 2 masks, 2 replacement cushions, 12 filters, 2 standard tubes and 1 water chamber. It is a budgeting exercise, not a replacement recommendation.

In all four scenarios, supplies make up 69 % to 76 % of five-year spending. That is why buyers should compare local price and availability of masks and spare parts, not only the machine. Chile and Argentina are left out because we could not find published prices for every supply.

Public and private coverage in Latin America

Check what your health system covers before buying. All of them require a diagnosis from a sleep study; if you do not have one yet, read about sleep apnea diagnosis and treatment options.

  • Mexico (IMSS and ISSSTE): the path starts with a referral from the family physician to a specialist. ISSSTE reported in 2015 that, after polysomnography, it provides CPAP to patients with severe sleep apnea. Availability varies by facility.
  • Colombia (EPS): EPS health insurers manage the sleep study and device delivery on a specialist's order. For example, the procedure published by Capital Salud EPS in 2023 runs from the medical order and polysomnography to delivery of a CPAP, BPAP or AutoCPAP. Requirements and timelines vary by EPS.
  • Chile (Fonasa and Isapres): Fonasa offers the sleep apnea study as a diagnosis-based package (code 2502008), with a 2026 fee of CLP 377,500 and a copayment of CLP 188,750 at contracted providers. It covers diagnosis, not the machine. Isapre coverage depends on the plan.
  • Argentina (PAMI and obras sociales): at a public hospital in Buenos Aires, patients received CPAP free of charge through PAMI and public programs between 2013 and 2018. Delivery took more than 10 months on average after diagnosis, and less than 3 months for PAMI members. Members of obras sociales and prepaid plans should ask for their plan's requirements in writing.

Used or unregistered CPAP machines: the risks

A used machine does not always save money. On the day we checked, a used global-brand model in Mexico was listed at MXN 15,000, inside the price range of the same model new (MXN 10,900 to 17,999, depending on version). In Chile, the used unit cost 13 % to 25 % less than new, and in Argentina half or less. Before buying, consider:

  • Unknown wear: motor hours are unknown, with no warranty or service.
  • Hygiene: the internal air path cannot be sterilized at home; the mask, tubing and filters should be new.
  • Recalls: in 2021, Philips Respironics recalled certain CPAP machines, BiPAP machines and ventilators, including some DreamStation models, because an internal foam could break down, and the FDA classified it as a Class I recall. If a used unit is one of those models, confirm with the manufacturer whether it was repaired or replaced.
  • Settings: the device must be set to your own prescription, never the previous owner's pressure.

How to check sanitary registration

  • Mexico: the COFEPRIS medical device registration viewer, launched in August 2026, searches by registration number, product name or holder.
  • Colombia: the INVIMA sanitary registration lookup, under the medical and surgical products group.
  • Chile: ask the Instituto de Salud Pública (ISP) about the model's regulatory status.
  • Argentina: confirm with ANMAT that the medical product is authorized.

Also ask for an invoice, serial number, Spanish manual, warranty and in-country technical service. For more context, read why FDA and CE certifications matter when sourcing CPAP machines.

Institutional and wholesale purchasing

The prices in this guide are single-unit retail prices. Hospitals, clinics, homecare providers and distributors buy in volume and also need recurring supplies, technical support and regulatory documentation. SysMed USA quotes wholesale on the iBreeze CPAP/APAP, the iBreeze+ travel CPAP, the iBreeze BPAP and the iRiFiT N300 and F300 masks, with sanitary registration documentation for Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Argentina. Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe to buy a used CPAP machine?

Buying used carries risks. Motor hours and wear are unknown, there is usually no warranty or service, and the internal air path cannot be sterilized at home, so the mask, hose and filters should always be new. Some used units may be models included in the 2021 Philips Respironics recall; confirm with the manufacturer whether they were repaired or replaced.

The device must be set to your own prescription, never the previous owner's pressure, and it should have sanitary registration in your country. In our October 2026 check, a used unit in Mexico was priced within the range of the same model new. See CPAP machine cost in Latin America.

Do public health systems in Latin America cover CPAP?

Coverage varies by country and plan, and every system requires a diagnosis from a sleep study and a prescription. In Mexico, access at IMSS and ISSSTE starts with a referral from the family physician; ISSSTE has reported providing CPAP to severe cases after polysomnography. In Colombia, EPS insurers manage the study and the delivery of CPAP or BPAP on a specialist's order. In Chile, Fonasa covers the sleep apnea study as a PAD package (2026 copayment CLP 188,750), not the machine. In Argentina, PAMI members can receive CPAP through their coverage. Ask your insurer for requirements in writing. Details in our CPAP cost guide.

How much does a CPAP machine cost?

Public retail prices for a new CPAP or auto CPAP (APAP) in October 2026 ranged from about MXN 9,600 to 23,000 in Mexico, COP 2,300,000 to 4,400,000 in Colombia, CLP 260,000 to 1,340,000 in Chile and ARS 460,000 to 1,850,000 in Argentina, roughly USD 265 to 1,380. Bilevel (BiPAP) machines start around USD 595 in Chile and USD 1,090 in Mexico.

Price depends on therapy type, brand, humidifier, heated tubing, connectivity and whether a mask is included. SysMed USA does not sell to patients or publish prices; hospitals, clinics, homecare providers and distributors can request a wholesale quote.

How long does a CPAP machine last and how often are supplies replaced?

As a reference, US Medicare treats five years as the useful lifetime of a CPAP device. Supplies wear out much faster: Medicare's replacement schedule allows a full face mask every 3 months, a full face cushion every month, nasal cushions twice a month, tubing every 3 months, disposable filters twice a month and a humidifier water chamber every 6 months.

Always follow the manufacturer's manual for the specific model. Homecare and institutional programs should budget a recurring supply plan per patient, for example with iRiFiT N300 and iRiFiT F300 replacement cushions, to keep therapy hygienic.

How much does a CPAP mask cost?

In Latin American online stores (October 2026), a nasal CPAP mask costs roughly USD 20 to 200 and a full face mask roughly USD 40 to 235, depending on brand, model and country. In Mexico, for example, nasal masks list at about MXN 750 to 3,200 and full face masks at about MXN 900 to 4,300; in Colombia, at about COP 170,000 to 460,000 and COP 170,000 to 610,000.

SysMed USA does not publish prices. Hospitals, clinics and distributors can request a wholesale quote for the iRiFiT N300 and F300.
